ABOUT

US.

WHERE IT BEGAN.

Sticky Metal Art didn't start as a business, it started with a genuine love of making things.

A lifetime spent working as a carpenter meant a lifetime around tools, materials, and craftsmanship, and that same instinct found a new outlet in welding scrap metal into something new.

Turning offcuts and things that would otherwise have gone in a skip into something meaningful.

HOW FAR IT'S TRAVELLED.

That hobby didn't stay small for long. What started as the odd piece here and there has become a proper business, year after year, built entirely on reclaimed materials, old tools, and no shortage of ambition at the welding bench.

The biggest change hasn't really been the process. It's the reach. Pieces that began life as scrap in a Reading workshop have travelled all over the UK, ending up in gardens and homes far beyond Berkshire.

One of the proudest moments so far was sending a welded seal all the way up to Scotland. Proof that scrap once destined for the heap can be given new life.

// The process

STILL TRUE TODAY.

However far a piece travels, it always starts the same way: an off cut, an old tool, a bit of angle iron nobody wanted, cut, shaped and welded by hand into something with a bit more life in it.

Animals, figures, flowers, bikes, cars, people. if you can picture it, there's a good chance it can be built. Most weekends, Sticky Metal Art is out at a craft fair or market somewhere in Berkshire and beyond, the best way to see pieces in person before committing to a commission.

Craft fairs are usually a joint effort. Flo, my wife, often sets up alongside with her own plasma-cut metal work, so keep an eye out for her work.
